Chemical Quiz Solution

Chemical                              


You may have expected that acid would be at the top of the list and you would not be too far wrong as acids can cause a serious burn. Caustic substances however, are even more dangerous as they tend to stick to the eye tissue and are difficult to dilute quickly and flush from the eye. 

Ammonia

EYE CONTACT: Instillation into the eye may result in transient superficial effects similar to those produced by mild toilet soaps and detergents.

Window cleaners

EYE CONTACT: May cause stinoging Rinse with plenty of water.

Fly Spray

EYE CONTACT: Eye Hazards - Irritant to the eyes. Rinse with water

Bleach

EYE CONTACT: Corrosive to the eyes. May cause severe irritation or damage to eyes

Swimming pool acid

EYE CONTACT: Mild to severe irritant. May cause burns if not flushed with water.

Hair Colour

EYE CONTACT: CAUTION. The mixture may cause severe irritation and possible permanent eye injury.

Battery (sulfuric) acid

EYE CONTACT: Immediate pain, severe burns and corneal damage which may result in blindness.

Drain Cleaner

EYE CONTACT: Caustic soda is destructive to eye tissues on contact. Will cause severe burns that result in damage to the eyes and even blindness
