The 'Bovine Browser' was developed as a result of funding provided by the auDA Foundation to the Association for the Blind of Western Australia, in partnership with Curtin University of Technology.
The project focused on the development of a customized web browser interface for people with disabilities, with particular emphasis on people who are vision impaired. Created for the Mac using Objective-C and Cocoa, the publicly available application parses HTML web pages and presents them in an accessible format. The interface allows the user to input a valid web address at which point the server side application would re-render the given web site based on predetermined settings. The reformatted page will then be presented to the user.
The Bovine Brower will run on Mac OS X 10.4 or later and is freely distributable.
