Burswood House is an Association for the Blind program, initially sponsored by the Burswood International Resort Casino's, Community Support Program.
Burswood House has been set up in response to the needs expressed by consumers in recent years to provide a training facility in personal skills development and independent living.
Burswood House offers training to young vision impaired and blind people between the ages of 13 and 30. We do, however, cater for other vision impaired consumers who fall outside this age group, if there are sufficient places available.
Burswood House provides young vision impaired and blind people with the opportunity to meet new friends, and share similar experiences in a supported and positive environment. Burswood House is not only fun, it also gives young people a chance to be actively involved in challenging new programs and adventures from which participants can learn and develop skills to lead independent and full lives.
Burswood House is located right next door to the Association for the Blind, at 8 Sunbury Road, Victoria Park. Extensive renovations, sponsored by the Burswood International Resort Casino, have provided a comfortable and suitable training facility for workshops and live-in programs.
Burswood House is an attractive two bedroom house, accommodating up to four participants for live-in programs, and up to 20 people for seminars or workshops. It has modern kitchen, laundry and bathroom facilities and is wheelchair accessible.
All Burswood House training courses, unless otherwise stated, are conducted at:
